4Runner offers two different 4-Wheel Drive systems: SR5 4WD and Trail models utilize part-time 4WD with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), while Limited 4WD is equipped with a full-time 4WD system featuring A-TRAC and Torsen®, limited-slip center differential with locking feature.
This available system can turn mountains into molehills. Just turn the shift dial to engage the 4WD mode and let the Torsen®, limited-slip center differential go to work. The differential can be locked to get maximum traction on slippery or uneven surfaces.
If your adventure takes you to the middle of nowhere, it’s reassuring to know you can rely on Sequoia’s strength and reliability. Forged on a fully boxed frame for durability, Sequoia is up to the challenge. Regardless of what the challenge is.
Sequoia’s advanced Automatic Limited-Slip Differential (Auto LSD) uses the brakes to help reduce wheel spin, giving you enhanced traction performance on unpredictable road surfaces like sand or mud.
Cool down in Death Valley. Warm up in the Sierras. In Sequoia, regardless of the climate outside, you can adjust the weather inside. With second-row climate controls, you set the temperature to make it as comfortable as you want it to be.
If your adventure involves a long drive along remote highways or sparsely populated roads, you’ll be glad the Platinum is equipped with Dynamic Laser Cruise Control, which helps maintain a constant preset distance between you and the vehicle ahead based on driving lanes and vehicle speed.
Take in more of the world with Sequoia's one-touch tilt/slide power moonroof with sliding sunshade. Imagine your passengers looking up and seeing the treetops of a tree-lined drive to the country, or a sky full of stars driving through a desert night. The moonroof doesn't just open up the cabin—it opens the entire experience.
Sequoia offers back passengers the luxury of a Blu-ray Disc™ player to watch movies, making it the first production vehicle SUV in the world to offer high-definition rear-seat entertainment. On Platinum models, the rear-seat Blu-ray Disc™ entertainment system includes a 9-in. display and two wireless headphones. To make the going even more fun, this system has two RCA jacks, so passengers can plug in virtually any audio or video player they bring with them.
With Sequoia, you set the soundtrack for your adventure thanks to a USB port that enables iPod®, connectivity and control. There′s an auxiliary input jack for other music players, and the available system also features Bluetooth®, hands-free phone capability and audio streaming.
Thanks to an available integrated backup camera automatically displaying what the camera sees behind the vehicle when you shift into Reverse, Sequoia′s backup camera helps you avoid objects that might otherwise be out of view.
Even with adjusted side mirrors, cars driving to the side and rear of you sometimes enter "blind spot" areas outside your view. The Platinum’s Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) system uses radar to scan these blind spots, helping to give you the confidence of knowing when other vehicles are in them.
Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are on whenever the Sequoia is, so you’re more visible to oncoming traffic during daylight.
An Advanced Airbag System helps protect you and your family with driver and front passenger dual stage airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, a driver knee airbag, a front passenger seat-cushion airbag and Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA) for all rows.
Our advanced Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) comes standard on every Sequoia. Designed to monitor the pressure at all times, it alerts the driver when a tire or tires become critically underinflated.
